Famous for its archaeological rock formations and ancient reliefs, Gunung Kawi Temple is one of the sacred grounds of Bali. Located on the top of rice field terrace, the temple can be reached by walking up the stairs to the top of the valley. As you enter the temple, you'll find various stone carvings and idols of Balinese gods and goddesses. Considered as the memorial site of Balinese King Udayana and his family, Gunung Kawi temple is encircled with lush greenery and has some mesmerizing overlooking views of Ubud from the top. Make flower offerings in the temple and meditate in the peaceful surrounding where ancient saints and monks used to pray.
