Popularly known as Anti-gravity Yoga, this form of yoga is a recent introduction to the vast, experiential world of yoga and traces its origins back to New York. Involving a series of exercises inspired by yoga, pilates, calisthenics and aerial acrobatics, Aerial Yoga is performed while hanging from a fabric hammock suspended about a meter above the ground. In this elevated position, you can dig deeper into the asanas and hold them for longer. You can also explore a greater range of movement and achieve positions that may be difficult to do on the ground.
Among the many benefits of aerial yoga is decompression and relaxing of the spine, relieving tension and promoting proper posture and alignment through relaxation rather than effort.
