Meet your guide at the Kyoto Tourist Information Center on the 2nd floor of Kyoto Station next to Isetan Department Store at 08:45 AM. You shall then get a safety briefing along with a helmet and a bicycle. As you begin your tour, the first stop shall be the Kamo River, dotted by several waterfront restaurants and locals going about their daily lives. You shall also get amazing views of the downtown area through this route.
Soon after, cycle to the spiritual center of Kyoto, the Heian-Jingu Shrine. You shall see the bright red torii gates and imitations of the old Kyoto Palace in the buildings there. Take it all in as you pedal towards the Nanzenji Temple, a Zen temple with surrounding smaller temples as well. Here, you can rest for a while as you admire the natural beauty surrounding you.
Then, head down the Path of Philosophy, a strikingly beautiful path, named so after a famous philosopher, Nishida Kitaro, who walked this path on his way to the university. As you cycle through this street, you shall understand the reason for the name as it is a picture-perfect road with a gently flowing stream by its side, inviting meditative thoughts and a peaceful frame of mind.
Finally, head back to the Kyoto Station where your tour shall end by approximately 12:30 PM.
