Located at Tokyo Midtown, the Suntory Museum of Art is a soulful building that displays exhibitions and art around the concept of "Lifestyle Art". They believe that things from our everyday life such as tools, faces, gardens, and pots all have beauty in them and can be considered art. It is the goal of the museum to spread the joy of "Art in Life" to a wider public and their mission is "Art revisited, beauty revealed". The building has been designed by the internationally acclaimed architect, Kengo Kuma. On the outside, it has been fitted with a white-porcelain look that enhances the sense of transparency while some of the floors inside are made with recycled whiskey casks. The interiors are warm and let in the natural light and with tones of wood and Japanese paper. The 3rd floor features the museum's café and shop, while the 6th floor has a hall for educational programs and lectures and a tea ceremony room.
The museum is open on all days, except Tuesdays and Public Holidays, between 10:00 AM - 6:00 Pm. On Fridays and Saturdays, it is open until 8:00 PM.
