Musa Underwater Museum

Scuba Diving

A monumental underwater contemporary museum of art, the MUSA (Museo Subacuático de Arte) features about 500 sculptures which was aimed to demonstrate the harmony between art and environmental science.

Embark on a stupefying adventure as you dive into this world under the water created as a part of an urban project in 2009. A unique sight to behold, all the 500+ monuments are made of specialized materials that promote the growth of coral thus replenishing the ecosystem. This underwater museum of art was established to help balance the effects of tourism by taking tourists away from regular snorkeling sites and giving them something new to look at. As a result, the pressure on the other snorkeling and scuba diving areas reduced thus helping fish and corals take over naturally. Several artists contributed to the setup of the underwater museum and the monuments are made revolving around certain themes like housing, war, beauty and other intrinsic life themes.
