Kickstart your day early for an exciting full day tour to the former capital of Thailand-Ayutthaya that’s situated approximately 75 kilometers north of Bangkok (about an hour’s drive from downtown) and is a must-see for all the Paleophiles. Your guide will pick you up from your hotel’s lobby in the morning and will take you to the Summer Palace of the late King Rama V, commonly known as “Bang Pa-In”. Situated 60 km north of Bangkok, the palace serves as a beautiful attraction for tourists. Formely used as a summer dwelling by the Siamese royalty and their consorts, the park features several iconic buildings dotted around a large park. From here you will head to Ayutthaya by a seat-in-coach. Your guide will explain to you the history of Ayutthaya. After the capital was conquered by the Burmese troops in 1767 and the ancient villages of foreign traders lining the Chao Phraya riverbanks were abandoned, there are still some remnants that serve as historical evidence to showcase the city’s glory in the past. You will pass or visit the ruins of the World Heritage Site. Make sure to click pictures here as you will be given enough time. You will then head back to Bangkok which you can choose to do either by a coach or by cruising down the Chao Phraya River on a comfortable, air-conditioned cruise ship, as you savour a sumptuous buffet lunch featuring different international cuisines on board. If you choose to take the coach, you will stop for lunch at a local restaurant in Ayuthaya. You will then be transferred back to your hotel.
