Located within the proximity of the scenic Parque Nacional del Este and the city of Bayahibe, the Casa Ponce de Leon is the residence of the famed 16th century Spanish explorer and conqueror Juan Ponce de Leon.

The renowned Spanish explorer Juan Ponce de León’s residence still stands in the south-eastern town of San Rafael de Yuma, near Higüey, where he lived before heading out into the seas to conquer the neighboring territory Puerto Rico.

The stone building was turned into a museum, nestled in a verdant yard and serving as a worthy tourist attraction. Those interested in acquainting themselves with the history and culture of places and people can ardently explore the interior to see some of the preserved household items and artifacts, including furniture that dates back to the 16th century.
