Overview

The first zoo opened in the Bahamas, Ardastra Gardens, Zoo, and Conservation Center is a masterpiece that preserves the exotic flora and fauna of the Caribbean. Lose track of time in these lovely gardens, petting friendly animals and spending time under the vast canopy of nature.

Description

Located in the heart of Nassau, Ardastra Gardens and Zoo covers a vast area and is home to more than 200 wildlife, including the Caribbean Flamingo, the national bird of The Bahamas, jaguars, Madagascar lemurs, rabbits and more. The first zoo opened in the Bahamas, Ardastra Gardens, Zoo, and Conservation Center in Nassau was initiative of a Jamaican horticulturist. Started as a garden, Ardastra later turned to a breeding and conservation center of flamingoes that were very rare to find in the Bahamas. The Gardens exhibit a variety of flora, ranging from lovely flowers to tall tropical trees. Encapsulated by the green canopy, the garden is a peaceful escape in the lap of nature. Take a stroll along the trails through lovely vines and bright flowers like orchids, hibiscus, bromeliads, and more.

  • All children under the age of 14 must always be accompanied by an adult and supervised.
  • Please do not climb on or cross safety barriers around enclosures, waterways and wells.
  • Kindly do not cause any harm to plants and animals.
  • The garden and zoo is closed on Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Years Day
  • The admission fee for adults is $18.75, for children from 3 to 12 years is $9.50. No entry charge for children under 3 years of age.
