Located in the heart of Nassau, Ardastra Gardens and Zoo covers a vast area and is home to more than 200 wildlife, including the Caribbean Flamingo, the national bird of The Bahamas, jaguars, Madagascar lemurs, rabbits and more. The first zoo opened in the Bahamas, Ardastra Gardens, Zoo, and Conservation Center in Nassau was initiative of a Jamaican horticulturist. Started as a garden, Ardastra later turned to a breeding and conservation center of flamingoes that were very rare to find in the Bahamas. The Gardens exhibit a variety of flora, ranging from lovely flowers to tall tropical trees. Encapsulated by the green canopy, the garden is a peaceful escape in the lap of nature. Take a stroll along the trails through lovely vines and bright flowers like orchids, hibiscus, bromeliads, and more.
