One of the most underrated experiences in Dubai is a walk around the Al Bastakiya Quarters. Not mentioned in many travel blogs, a walk around this quaint cultural village with traditional cafés, shops selling spices, perfumes, indigo, variety of tea, carpets, bright ceramicware is highly recommended. With narrow lanes, winding alleys, mud walls and pink bougainvillea around, this walled city provides for a bunch of photo opportunities for that perfect instagram post. Located between Dubai Creek and the Bur Dubai District, the construction of the Bastakiya Quarter dates back to around the 18th century. You would also come across some bright graffities on the walls depicting Arab culture. You could also visit the Sheikh Mohammed Centre for Cultural Understanding located in the same area. It is also home to many art galleries.
