Explore the old Dubai charm in the present day when you visit the Dubai Museum.

Housed in the “Al Fahidi Fort”, Dubai museum is a must visit during your holiday at Dubai to get a taste of the old-world charm of the Arab kingdom. It’s believed to be oldest existing building in the city and is located to the south of Dubai Creek and in the bustling quarters of Old Dubai. The fort is almost 200 years old and has been used for different purposes right from as a base of the monarch to an arsenal to a prison for the outlaws. It was under the reign of Sheikh Rashid bin Saeed Al Maktoum in 1971 when it was renovated and converted into a museum. With life size dioramas showcasing different scenes from the Arab history you would feel transported back in time as they narrate the story of a traditional Emirati life. The museum exhibits its heritage by showcasing the pearl diving region including the weights and scales used in the era and galleries with models of Arab houses, mosques, souks, date farms and marine life. It also has a huge courtyard where some of the old utensils, weapons are on display. There is also a souvenir store in the museum’s ground floor.
