Seminyak is a gorgeous beach town in Bali, close to the busier and more crowded Kuta. While it doesn’t teem with historical landmarks like Ubud or Bedugul, it has a lovely beach vibe and some fantastic shops and restaurants. If sipping on a mojito and reading a novel by the sea sounds like your idea of fun, don’t miss Seminyak. Here are the best things to do in Seminyak, Bali:
Soak up the sun at Seminyak Beach
Swimming, sun-bathing, horse riding, and surfing – there’s so much to do at the pristine Seminyak Beach. If you aren’t a fan of water sports, simply find a good spot on the sand and listen to the sound of the waves. The seashore reflects the sky to perfection on sunny days and isn’t too different from one of the beach wallpapers online!
Enjoy Seminyak nightlife at Potato Head Beach Club
Though there’s nothing to beat the nightclubs of Kuta, Seminyak does have some great beach clubs. So, you can dress up and dance or lounge on the sand with cocktails, great music and a shimmering seaside sunset in the backdrop. What’s not to love? Potato Head Beach Club with its huge infinity pool and beachfront cabanas is a must-visit. We’d also recommend Ku De Ta, a sea-facing bar with great cocktails and a live DJ in the evenings. For a different kind of dining experience, check out La Laguna Bali, a tapas bar and restaurant with a distinct gypsy vibe in Canggu. The floral gardens and log bridge with stunning views of the sunset are major draws for tourists visiting.
Visit Petitenget Temple
Possibly the only cultural attraction in Seminyak, Pura Petitenget or the Magic Box Temple is one of the significant sea temples in Bali. The 16th-century priest Nirartha was a frequent visitor, and he had a ‘magic box’, which is why the temple is called so. This century-old Hindu temple is a showcase of Balinese culture and architecture. Go in the evening to watch the sunset at Petitenget Beach after you finish exploring the temple.
Buy art at Nyaman Gallery
Nyaman Gallery, a Bali art gallery is great for observing as well as buying interesting paintings, photographs, interior items, ceramics, and even ‘wearable art’. It’s a wonderful way to discover and support local talent, while also ending up with a beautiful souvenir of your trip to Seminyak.
Enjoy PADI certified snorkeling and scuba diving
If you’ve never tried scuba diving in your life, it’s time to get PADI certified at Adventure Scuba Diving Bali. The diving school offers lessons in open water diving and snorkeling. For those who need no introduction to the magic of being underwater, the center also organizes guided trips to nearby diving spots.
There’s so much else that you might discover around your hotel in Seminyak. Some say that Revolver café serves the best coffee in town. Yoga schools offer much-needed downtime after all the traveling and partying. Every town in Bali has its own charm and given Seminyak’s proximity to Kuta and Legian, it deserves a place on your itinerary.
